It is our ultimate desire to assist every women in the quest of her “raison d'être” or reason for being.

Our History

WOD Ministries was established in January of 2002 as a non-profit 501(c) (3) outreach ministry of the Reverend Dr. Lisa M. Tait. As Co-Pastor of the Imani Christian Center, Dr. Tait created Women of Destiny to assist the women of her church and community in discovering their purpose in life. As a part of her doctoral work at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tait created a Faith Formation Program for women to assist them in achieving spiritual self-actualization (i.e., their ultimate providence, the realization of their power, authority, and influence in their community and the world). Fifteen women completed this program which empowered them and ultimately enabled them to respond to and fulfill God’s call on their lives. The program consisted of five components: God-Produced, God-Positioned, God-Partnered, God-Purposed and God-Empowered. Dr. Tait believes that these life components are inextricably inter-connected in the spiritual lives of women such that we are always struggling to achieve balance in these areas in order to reach spiritual self-actualization.

At the completion of this program all participants showed an increase in self-esteem, self-knowledge, knowledge of their spiritual gifts, and their desire to use their gifts in the church and their community. A bond has been created that cannot be broken and through the power of God we invite other women into our fellowship who are searching for inspiration, hope, and encouragement along their life’s journey.
